Sharing with Mom’s on the web
I would like to share with everyone that the first part of this post is by my friend, Fabulous Kelli!
“We had just returned from a long road trip to visiting my husband’s nephew and picking up the my boys. We grabbed some take-out and settled in for the evening. My husband put on his PJ’s and I decided to look at the paper. Plenty of time to get ready for tomorrow’s get together with friends, I think to myself. I’ll clean up later. Suddenly, the door bell rings. It is a little late for the neighborhood kids, I decide. I open the door and there stands one of my most favorite people, The Domestic Mom’s Child #1, I am giddy at first, thinking that she has come to share her good news about soccer with me. But wait, there is not just 1 member the of family, but 5! The pieces now slowly get put together in my mind, as I see The Domestic Mom coming toward me with a bag of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee….she is a day early to the party! The look on my face must have gave it away…the one of SURPRISE! But not in a bad way….in fact, I am always secretly delighted when I see that I am not the only one who makes an error that my husband rolls his eyes at
Even though I am always glad to see my friends, I AM a little upset that I have nothing more than coffee and hot chocolate to offer (I would have baked or at least got Munchkins if I had more notice). Anyway, The Domestic Mom is completely EMBARRASSED, but the kids are happy to see each other and content, so this is just a BONUS visit! I love kids, because they are oblivious to our humaness to make mistakes sometimes and just see the good in situations. The girls take off there shoes and play. In addition, for those of us who enjoy laughter and practical jokes, I know that not only has The Domestic Mom given me the gift of her friendship, but also material now for endless ribbing at our next get together! My good fortune! SERIOUSLY, you cannot take things TOO seriously. Friends are those people who know you and accept you, whether you show up early or late. Friends just show up….and when they do it is ALWAYS a blessing.” … Fabulous Kelli!
Yes folks you read that right! I showed up a day early for the party! Me and my entire family! Did I feel like a fool … you betcha!!! The best part was the look on Fab Kelli’s face … priceless! Will I ever live this down … probably not! Not only did I have the date wrong on my calendar, but I even had the time wrong too! As for the endless ribbing … by the time I walked into church the next day, word was out! I even got, “At least you know it’s Sunday!” As we left Saturday night, Fab Kelli suggests that when we come tomorrow for the party, that we sing a Christmas carol when we arrive. Well we did! We tried to sing Rudolph the red nose reindeer, but we could not remember the entire song! So, we embarrassed ourselves 2 nights in a row!
As I’m writing this Child #2 reads the title of this post and comments … That’s a good title Mom, because I was really embarrassed!
