Sharing with Mom’s on the web
We have always had this problem … No chimney! When the kids were old enough to wonder how Santa gets into our house, we needed to find a solution! How does one normally enter a locked home?? With a Key!!!! Since Santa is a magical guy … he needs a magical key! Each of my kids have their own “Santa Key”. These keys are hung on the outside of the door, so that when Santa arrives all he has to do is unlock the door & let himself in! Once Santa is done … Obviously, he’s going to need to use the keys next year, so he kindly leaves the Santa Keys on the coffee table along side of the Christmas Letter. Do you need a specific key, No!! The Santa Key can be any key that your child wants to use! A while back, Longaberger was selling Pewter Santa Keys … I have 3 different keys for each of my kids. Out of the 3 Longaberger keys only 1 was bought from a Longaberger representative. We found the other 2 on ebay! (The years I have are 2001, 2002 & 2003.)
This is what’s on the inside of the key box (all 3 say something different) ….
Child #1 key … Please don’t worry — If your house has no chimney, I can still deliver your toys. I won’t ring your bell or knock on your door, ’cause I’d wake you with all of that noise. If you’ll hang this magic Santa Key on your doorknob Christmas Eve, I’ll let myself in, deliver your presents and then I’ll quietly leave! Santa
Child #2 key … Please don’t worry — This magical Santa Key will open your door. On Christmas Eve I’ll leave you handtouched gifts and so much more. So if your home has no chimney, I can still deliver Elf-made toys. Hang this key on your doorknob and I’ll visit without making a noise. Santa
Child #3 key … Christmas carols, a joyful chorus and jingle bells. How wondrous are the sounds of the season! To make sure I visit you on Christmas Eve, use this Santa Key for a special reason. Hang this magic key on your door and I won’t need a chimney to slide down. Bringing gifts of joy that you’ll adore. I’m coming to soon to your hometown. Santa
Again, the Santa Key can be any key! I’m hoping the keys are something that my kids will want to use with their children someday!
Have a Merry Christmas!

I actually got a skeleton key from our friendly local hardware man, who, when I told him what it was for, gave it to me for free!!
